My art is a reflection on the existential changes that characterize late capitalism.
My art deals with the iconology of stardom/sexuality and status/military, which are dominant factors of postmodern culture. These icons are brought up to the surface and reveal the simulacrum which iconography relies on by way of effects of the visual language (which “icon” cannot be separated from).
My art looks like graffiti, comics, anime, tattoos, punk, trash, metal; postmodern “effects” of the visual language which are intertwined with modern effects such as action painting, expressionism, bad painting, etc.. As a result the iconology of these visual “effects” are also brought up to the surface
My art drives to break the boundaries of “the medium” which have been cast upon art; to me there is no painting or sculpture, video, photography or performance, there is no “medium” just art, the medium is not the context – it is part of the visual language which is autonomous both from semantic or symbolic meaning and its prior historical referent.
